Stay Flexible

If you’re taking a walk and are suddenly spellbound by the smell of a flower or the inspiring perspective offered by a nearby bench, consider that it might be a good thing to take a pause from your routine and experience something new. By pausing, maybe you’ll see a butterfly that you’ve never seen before, or maybe the patterns of waves in a lake will inspire you to contemplate connection and balance. Every day, we all follow the well-traveled path of our little routines, choosing many that work to sustain our happiness and wellbeing, and some that don’t. But even for the good ones, a bit of spontaneity here and there can paint a much-needed fresh coat of newness and wonder.

New steppingstones and untrodden paths abound if you know where to look for them. They add a dose of adventure and discovery to the sterility and organization of our day-to-day environment. Keep your mind’s eye open, scanning for possibilities. Think to yourself – what could I do differently today, even if it’s something small, that I’ve never tried before? What can I notice now that I was too busy to stop for previously? It is in the little things where the greatest wonders lie, and in flexibility, the chance to witness them.
