Cultivating Humility

As we continue to expand our knowledge, and we are faced with a conflict, it is easy to become defensive and assume that we are right. Why does this happen? Our ego takes hold of us, and we believe that someone else may not understand as well as we do. If we take a step back from that heated conversation with a family member, a coworker, whoever it is, and realize that ego is one of the greatest barriers to education, some unexpected fruit may present itself.

As we go through life, we are constantly learning and evolving, reaching new heights and discovering more things about ourselves and the universe. Look back and reflect on how far you have come, and what led you to where you are now. As you do, think about the prerequisites to that growth.

Humility is important. It allows us to listen to the lessons of life. Remember that we arrived where we are because we were humble enough to learn from others and our experiences, at some point. By continuing to stay humble, we might just find more lessons outside our door, which, after all, is why we are here.
