A Reminder to Replenish
The upcoming and natural change in seasons, from summer to autumn, is a time to regroup, ponder the last season’s hard work, reset, and get ready to rest. It’s this time that nature models for us the value of pausing and redirecting our energy to our own fortification.
If you never stop to rest, even the most thoughtful self-care routine won’t protect you from imbalance. When you don’t provide the right care for yourself, even if it’s very minor, these things take a toll over time, draining your energy reserves. Our bodies, senses, minds, and hearts need fuel to keep going, and sometimes, we need to stop at the gas station. Maybe that means a vacation, a week of not doing anything (if you have the luxury of time off), or just simply an even greater intention to come back to center and regroup.
When the path isn’t fully sustainable, it can’t be traveled forever. A maple tree can’t keep producing leaves through the cold season because it knows it will drain its vitality. It must let go to take care of itself. This is the message that this season has for all of us.
